LOS ANGELES, Ca. (December 5, 2013) – While it seems everyone is talking about the recent popularity of British boy bands One Direction and The Wanted – RedOne (the acclaimed hitmaker behind Lady Gaga, Pitbull, and Nicki Minaj) has introduced MIDNIGHT RΞD.  Some boy bands are here today, gone tomorrow.  Midnight Red is here to stay with their latest 2101 Records/Capitol Records self-titled EP release MIDNIGHT RED due out on MidnightRed_EP_cvr_lrgDecember 10th.

Always ones to put their fans, dubbed the ‘Redheads’, first the band rolled out their EP announcement by asking fans to go to their site to get the big news, when they arrived they were met with a “share to unlock” prompt.  The fans shared the news socially and were rewarded with exclusive access to snippets track listing, and artwork from the forthcoming EP.

Joey, Thomas, Eric, Colton, and Anthony form the new group of exciting performers from across the country. They bring outstanding harmonies and electrifying dance moves to the pop landscape.  No matter where they perform, it’s always their goal to make people want to get up and feel the beat.

“We are so excited to be releasing our new EP,” says Eric.  “Making this music for the fans is what we all have lived for.  Now to see that it will be available for our fans in just a week, is awesome,” adds Colton.

The digital and video releases of “Take Me Home,” (produced by RedOne) drew further attention to Midnight Red as the featured nationwide commercial for Coca Cola/iHeart Radio.  The feel-good video for “Take Me Home,” has calculated over 3 million views on YouTube and brings a good time with friends on a lake to life while showing off dance moves that are among the best in today’s highly competitive world of pop music. In addition, their cover of the infamous NSYNC classic “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays” has nearly 5K views in just a few short days and Seventeen.com named them one of ‘4 Boy Bands You Should Know’.

About MIDNIGHT RΞD:
United by their intensely pure talent and passion for music of all kinds,Midnight Red’s members hail from all over the U.S.  As the second signing to the partnership between Grammy Award-winning producer/songwriter RedOne’s 2101 Records and Capitol Music Group, Midnight Red is now teaming up with RedOne (Lady Gaga, U2, J.Lo, Pitbull) to create a debut EP that showcases their powerhouse vocals and harnesses the combustible energy of their live show.

Near-lifelong singers and dancers hailing from wildly different backgrounds,Midnight Red saw its inception when Anthony and Eric met through their mutual vocal coach. A star dancer for Monsters of HipHop, Anthony had tried out as a backup dancer for Janet Jackson at age 12, then made it to the final round of auditions only to find he was too young to go on tour. After Anthony connected with Eric (through a vocal coach), the two reached out to Thomas, who soon relocated to L.A. from his rural Texas hometown to join the group. A self-described music obsessive “raised by MTV,” Thomas devoted his high school years to scouting out any opportunity to sing onstage, and had crossed paths with Eric through a singing competition when he was 15. Next, the group tracked down Colton after stumbling across a YouTube video of the aspiring singer/school-chorus star covering Jesse McCartney’s “Leavin.’” To round out the lineup, Midnight Red’s then-manager tapped Joey, another aspiring singer who was attending California State University, Northridge (and whose singer/songwriter father, Joey Diggs Sr., had recorded vocals with the likes of Smokey Robinson, Whitney Houston, and Rod Stewart).

About MIDNIGHT RΞD Members:
Joey Diggs Jr. age 24, from Los Angeles, CA says his father, a singer who is best known as the voice behind Coca-Cola’s “Always” campaign jingle, taught him everything he knows.  After hearing Michael Jackson for the first time in his childhood, Joey’s life as a musician was forever transformed. Jackson’s music continues to inspire him to reach new levels as a performer overall musician. Says Joey: “I’m ready to show the world what it means to chase a dream and work hard to make that dream become reality.”

Thomas Augusto, age 22, from Arlington, TX, was called the “little entertainer because “my parents could never shut me up,” he says.  Thomas, occasional dubbed “Tom-O,” grew up a child of ‘90s, and was influenced from early on by MTV and other outlets of pop-culture. A fan of Beyonce, Radiohead, and No Doubt, he has spent years dreaming about being on a huge stage doing what he loves to do. “There were always pyrotechnics in my daydreams, so I know I am on the right track!” he says.

Eric Secharia, age 21, from Burbank, CA, describes himself as a “hipster” whom you’ll never catch not smiling. Eric, who has been singing since age 6, and dancing since age 12, plays guitar and cites Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson as his main musical influences.  Though he claims he fell in to music “accidentally,” at a young age, it is very clear that he was born to perform. “They are two people who truly stood out as performers that mastered their craft and used it to change the world,” he says.

Colton Rudloff, age 24 from Buffalo, NY, was selected as Midnight Red’s fifth member after being discovered through videos he had posted on YouTube. Colton grew up an avid fan of American Idol and he credits the show not only with exposing him to multiple genres of music, but with encouraging him to follow his passion for music and becoming a professional singer and performer.  “I lean toward artists who have a passion for pure singing,” he says. “There’s no need for all the smoke and mirrors if you have a great voice.”

Anthony Ladao, age 20, from Seattle, WA, is the “baby” of the group, and has been dancing since the age of 6 and singing since the age of 12.  He describes his own style as an artist as drawing influence from the worlds of pop and rock.  Though he comes from a musical family and has always loved music, the turning point for him was seeing Usher perform at the MTV Video Music Awards. For Anthony, this sparked an interest in dance and “from there it became my passion,” he says.
