Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine to Appear as Featured Soloist
with San Diego Symphony on April 12th, 2014
MEGADETH_publicity_Myriam_Santos_med (1)
SAN DIEGO, CA. (March 5, 2014) – Multi-platinum selling thrash metal band Megadeth is set to embark on a world tour in over 25 countries across four continents starting in April.  The tour follows a first-ever performance at Copley Symphony Hall on April 12, where Dave Mustaine will collaborate with the San Diego Symphony, demonstrating his classically-influenced technique as a featured soloist in “Symphony Interrupted.”

Beginning at 8:00 PM, Mustaine and the Symphony will perform renditions of the “Summer” and “Winter” movements from Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons”, and Bach’s “Air” (on the G string), in a completely original way.  Richard Wagner’s “Ride of the Valkyries” and Antonin Dvorak’s “New World Symphony” will also be performed by the symphony during the concert.  For more information, visitSanDiegoSymphony.org.

When asked about “Symphony Interrupted,” Mustaine said “I love the challenge.  I really admire this genre of music because of the level of skill required and there are great dark undertones in these incredible pieces.  The marriage of two such distinctly different genres is one thing, but cross-pollinating different societies is a whole new level of badass!  I’m used to them being before me, but it’s a bit unnerving to know so many talented eyes will be on my back.  It’s a bit intimidating, and to be given the opportunity to interpret these melodies – to meld what I am best at with what they incredibly present, it is a great honor.”

“PLAYIN’ POSSUM! THE FINAL NO SHOW” HAS ADDED BRAD PAISLEY, MARTINA McBRIDE, LORETTA LYNN, RONNIE MILSAP, BIG & RICH, LEE ANN WOMACK, CRAIG MORGAN, THOMPSON SQUARE, BILL ANDERSON AND MEGADETH AS PERFORMERS ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2013 AT NASHVILLE’S BRIDGESTONE ARENA

GJ_PlayinPossum_RGB_medNashville, Tenn. (October 8, 2013) – Today, Nancy Jones revealed additional talent for what would have been George Jones’ final concert appearance in Nashville, Tennessee, on November 22, 2013 but is now a tribute to the country music legend.  In addition, “Playin’ Possum! The Final NO Show” has been dubbed the official name of the event.

“The evening of George Jones songs is going to be the best musical tribute Nashville has ever seen,” says Nancy Jones.  “We have many surprises planned, and I just wish George could be here to see what we are doing for him.”

The SOLD OUT tribute concert will feature performances by Brad Paisley, Martina McBride, Big & Rich, Loretta Lynn, Lee Ann Womack, Craig Morgan, Thompson Square, Ronnie Milsap, Bill Anderson and rockers Megadeth. “George Jones had a way of putting his finger right into your wounds and letting you know, ‘I understand. I know your pain.’ While ‘Wild Irish Rose,’ may be an unexpected choice with so many great songs to choose from, it is a perfect example of Mr. Jones way of reaching inside every one of us, and making us aware that we all have pain. By far the most pain a man can endure, sadly as so many of our Vietnam Vets know, is to come home and find no one wants him. In the end, as so many do, they end their days inside of a bottle, as “Rose” knows too well,” says Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine.

George Jones, often referred to as the “the greatest living country singer” was on his farewell tour titled “The Grand Tour,” when he passed away. The icon’s hits, “I Don’t Need Your Rockin’ Chair”, “Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes”, “White Lightning” and “He Stopped Loving Her Today” will surely become standards for honky-tonk cover bands for years to come.

Los Angeles, Ca. (August 28, 2013) – Last November and December, Megadeth blazed hot on the band’s “Countdown to Extinction 20th Anniversary Tour,” ripping through their entire double platinum 1992 album from start to finish before performing other classics from their recorded catalog.  OnSeptember 24 (September 23 outside of North America), Tradecraft/UMe will release Countdown to Extinction: Live, a definitive document of the acclaimed, sold-out tour.  Recorded and filmed at Los Angeles’ Fox Theatre last December,Countdown to Extinction: Live will be available in several video and audio configurations, including deluxe Blu-ray/CD, DVD, CD, Digital Album, Mastered for iTunes Album, and Longform Digital Video.

In addition to Megadeth’s blistering performance of the entire Countdown to Extinction album, including the essential “Symphony Of Destruction,” “Foreclosure Of A Dream,” “Sweating Bullets,” and “Skin O’ My Teeth,”Countdown to Extinction: Live features all of the other Megadeth classics the band performed at the epic concert, including “Holy Wars” and “Hangar 18” from 1990’s Rust in Peace, “Peace Sells” from the band’s influential, platinum certified 1986 album, Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying?, and “Trust” from 1997’s platinum certified Cryptic Writings.

Megadeth’s fifth studio album, Countdown to Extinction was recorded in Los Angeles in 1992.  American tensions weren’t limited to LA, as the Gulf War was still fresh in people’s minds, the state of the environment was becoming headline news, and out of this turmoil, Megadeth was inspired to createCountdown to Extinction, considered by many to be the band’s best and most accessible album. None of their previous records were as polemical as the sonic missiles launched by ‘Countdown.’  Megadeth laced the songs with acid-tongued commentary about subjects ranging from the futility of war (“Architecture of Aggression”) to the senseless brutality of caged hunting (“Countdown to Extinction”).  “Foreclosure of a Dream” sampled George Bush’s infamous “Read my lips” speech, making a statement about taxation endangering the American Dream.

Thanks to a perfect balance of hard-rock song structures, epic choruses, and fleet-fingered guitar work, Countdown to Extinction became an instant classic, benefiting from copious MTV and radio play. SPIN magazine raved that ‘Countdown’ “may just be the finest thrash-metal album ever made.”  The album shot to No. 2 on the Billboard chart (it may have hit No. 1, if not for Billy Ray Cyrus’ long chart-topping reign with Some Gave All), and it was certified double platinum in the U.S. within two years.

Megadeth was in top form, with Dave Mustaine, the band’s then 31-year-old singer and guitarist leading the album’s assault with lyrics like “You know your worth when your enemies praise your architecture of aggression,” not to mention his venomous rhythm guitar attack with his longtime bandmate completed the picture, as bassist David Ellefson jammed dizzying arrays of low-end thunder. Megadeth sounded hungry, and the band was rewarded when the album earned a GRAMMY Award nomination (Best Metal Performance) and when its title cut garnered a Genesis Award from the Humane Society for raising awareness for animal rights issues.

In November 2012, Capitol released an expanded and remastered 20th Anniversary Edition of Countdown to Extinction, personally overseen by Mustaine.  The 2 CD lift-top box and digital release pairs the remastered original album with an exclusive, previously unreleased 1992 concert, recorded live at San Francisco’s Cow Palace.

In a career nearing 30 years, Megadeth has sold more than 38 million albums worldwide, earning five consecutive platinum albums and numerous accolades along the way, including 11 GRAMMY® nominations.  The band’s latest studio album, Super Collider, reunites Mustaine once again with guitarist Chris Broderick, bassist David Ellefson, and drummer Shawn Drover.  Released in June, Super Collider debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200, Megadeth’s highest chart debut since 1994’s Youthanasia.

Megadeth New Album ‘Super Collider’ Debuts #6 on Billboard’s Top 200 Chart

GIGANTOUR 2013 starts July 3rd in the northeast, featuring MEGADETH with BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, DEVICE, HELLYEAH, NEWSTED & DEATH DIVISION

Megadeth - Super Collider - Cover ArtLOS ANGELES, June 12, 2013 – Longtime fans as well as new fans have spoken with their actions by purchasing the new Megadeth, album Super Collider. Megadeth, a heavy metal band that’s been around for nearly three decades, selling more than 38 million albums worldwide, earning 11 Grammy® nominations, now adds Top 6 album to their recent list of accomplishments.Super Collider debuts at #6 on Billboard’s Top 200 albums making this their highest debut since their multi-platinum albums Countdown to Extinction and Youthanasia. Taking their position ahead of Imagine Dragons and right on the heels of Darius Rucker on Billboard’s Chart, Megadeth also debuts at #3 on Billboard’s Hard Music Chart. The title track from the album “Super Collider” also debuts at #1 on the CMJ Loud Rock Chart this week.

Check out a recent interview with Dave Mustaine with Grammy.com and listen to another track “Built For War” from the album.

With five consecutive platinum albums already under their belt—founder, leader, guitarist, lyricist Dave Mustaine reunites once again with guitarist Chris Broderick, bassist David Ellefson and drummer Shawn Drover.

Mustaine draws his themes and lyrics from his personal experiences. Tracks on the album include “Built for War” (co-written with Drover), inspired by Mustaine’s martial arts lessons as a latch-key kid which taught him to defend himself, and the corrosive “Off the Edge,” a song about a world gone mad, shares the album with cautionary tales about teenage pregnancy (“Beginning of Sorrow,” a co-write with Broderick), the ravages of drug addiction (“Kingmaker”), a faltering economy (“Dance in the Rain”), an arsonist (“Burn!”), betrayal (“Don’t Turn Your Back on a Friend”) and even the very personal and painful process he is currently dealing with as his mother-in-law battles with Alzheimer’s (the dark delta country-blues of “The Blackest Crow” and “Forget to Remember”).

Megadeth will also be headlining GIGANTOUR, which kicks off July 3 on the East Coast. The critically acclaimed package festival founded in 2005 by Dave Mustaine—returns in 2013 with an incredible new multi-artist bill featuring metal heavyweights BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, DEVICE, HELLYEAH, NEWSTED and DEATH DIVISION, all personally picked by Mustaine.

The Super Collider title comes from the world’s largest and highest-energy particle accelerator which allows physicists to smash atoms in the hope of discovering the origins of the Big Bang Theory. The actual device, considered one of the great engineering milestones of mankind, is pictured on the album cover, with permission from CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research), which developed and built it.

ABOUT MEGADETH (www.megadeth.com):
Scoring five consecutive platinum albums—including 1992’s two-million-sellingCountdown to Extinction—MEGADETH’s founder, leader and primal guitar-slinger and lyricist Dave Mustaine feels the best is yet to come.

Mustaine formed Megadeth in Los Angeles in 1983, and with a string of five consecutive platinum and multi-platinum albums Megadeth became one of the biggest bands of the mid-’80s and ’90s, boasting such arena anthems as “Symphony of Destruction,” “Peace Sells,” “Holy Wars… The Punishment Due,” and “Sweating Bullets,” along with the top singles in 1997/98 off Cryptic Writings, “Trust,” (No. 1 track) “Almost Honest,” “Use The Man” and “A Secret Place.”

LOS ANGELES, CA (June 3, 2013) — GIGANTOUR—the critically acclaimed package festival founded in 2005 by MEGADETH’s Dave Mustaine—returns in 2013 with an incredible new line-up for the tour. In addition to headliner MEGADETH, the multi-artist bill features metal heavyweights BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, DEVICE, HELLYEAH, NEWSTED and DEATH DIVISION, all personally picked by MEGADETH frontman Dave Mustaine.GIGANTOUR “This year’s power-packed lineup is probably the best Gigantour yet, and we’ve had some pretty massive Gigantours over the years. Gigantour 2013 brings four of my favorite bands, each centered around a superstar. With Zakk, David, Vinnie, and Jason there are going to be fans from Ozzy to Disturbed to Pantera to Metallica and everything that’s metal in-between! Don’t miss the metal festival of the summer!” says Mustaine. He founded the tour in 2005 and over the years has had established artists such as Volbeat, Motorhead, Anthrax, Fear Factory and Dream Theater, as well as giving (then) up-and-coming artists Lacuna Coil, Into Eternity and Sanctity their first break on a national festival tour.GIGANTOUR 2013 continues with this tradition.

GIGANTOUR 2013 will kick off on July 3rd in Gilford, NH and wind its way through North America, hitting cities throughout Canada and the U.S., wrapping onAugust 11th in Toronto, Canada. Tickets on sale now. Check www.gigantour.com for further details.

MEGADETH has also teamed up with Artist Arena (www.artistarena.com) to provide fans with Ultimate VIP packages, including premium tickets, meet and greets, exclusive gifts and more. Go to megadeth.com for all the details.

For a heavy metal band that’s been around for nearly three decades, selling more than 38 million albums worldwide, earning numerous accolades including 11 Grammy® nominations, scoring five consecutive platinum albums—including 1992’s two-million-selling Countdown to Extinction—MEGADETH’s founder, leader and primal guitar-slinger and lyricist Dave Mustaine feels the best is yet to come. They are about to release their 14th studio album titledSuper Collider, June 4, 2013, through Mustaine’s new label, Tradecraft, through UMe, just in time for GIGANTOUR 2013.

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY (www.blacklabelsociety.com)
For over 20 years Zakk Wylde served as Ozzy Osbourne’s guitarist, a collaboration that produced a string of multi-platinum albums, including Osbourne’s biggest selling album No More Tears (Wylde wrote all of the music) and OzzmosisIn 1998, Wylde formed the now legendary BLACK LABEL SOCIETY (BLS), which went on to earn its own fervent fan base (known as the Berzerkers). A limited amount of Black Label Society VIP packages will be available at http://shop.blacklabelsociety.com.

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY is comprised of Zakk Wylde (lead guitar, lead vocals), Nick Catanese (rhythm guitar), John DeServio (bass), and Chad Szeliga (drums). Their eighth studio album, Order Of The Black (2010), featured two singles, Parade Of The Dead and “Crazy Horse, and entered the Billboard 200 at No. 4. With millions of records sold with both Ozzy Osbourne and Black Label Society, Wylde has won nearly every guitar award imaginable, and is a major influence on a new battalion of rock guitarists currently popular today.

DEVICE (www.deviceband.com)
Experimentation remains the best catalyst for progression. Rather than sticking to any pre-existing blueprints or conventions, modern hard rock icon David Draiman of Disturbed and studio collaborator Geno Lenardo [ex-Filter] constructed DEVICE from strands of hard rock, industrial, and electronica.

While the Grammy© Award-nominated, multiplatinum powerhouse Disturbed was on hiatus, Lenardo reached out to Draiman to collaborate on a song for the Underworld: Awakening soundtrack in late 2011. As soon as the singer heard the music, he was both intrigued and inspired. The duo then cut “Hunted” in Chicago. Even though the track didn’t ultimately make the final soundtrack album due to circumstances beyond their control, Draiman urged that they hold on to it and continue writing music. They soon enlisted Will Hunt from Evanescence and guitarist Virus from Dope and Rock of Ages, and had an entire album’s worth of material resulting in the release of their new, self-titled debut on Warner Bros. Records. Device is in stores now!

HELLYEAH (http://hellyeahband.com)
The Dallas, Texas heavy metal supergroup HELLYEAH formed in 2006 and features Mudvayne lead vocalist Chad Gray and guitarist Greg Tribett, plus Tom Maxell from Nothingface, Bob Zilla from Damageplan and drummer Vinnie Paul from Pantera and Damageplan. Their self-titled debut is a wide-ranging collection of songs including stomping metal, melodic hard rock and fun-loving southern rock and has sold over 350,000 copies. Their follow-up, Stampede, was released in 2010 and debuted at No. 8 on The Billboard 200. Their new album, Band of Brothers, is heavier than anything they’ve done before and more emotionally expressive as well as more sonically reminiscent of the bands’ past groups, Pantera, Damageplan, Mudvayne and Nothingface.

NEWSTED (http://newstedheavymetal.com)
Legendary bassist, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and six-time Grammy-Award winner, Jason Newsted is now fronting his very own band, Newsted. The band’s explosive EP, accurately titled, Metal debuted #1 on the iTunes metal chart. Joined by Staind guitarist, Mike Mushok, guitarist Jessie Farnsworth and drummer, Jesus Mendez Jr, Newsted is currently on the road and putting the final touches on a full-length album to be released late this summer.

Newsted will be offering fans a chance to get up close and personal with the Newsted VIP Experience! To be the first to know about tickets and premium VIP packages visit http://newstedheavymetal.com and make sure to sign up for the mailing list.

DEATH DIVISION (https://www.facebook.com/DeathDivision)
DEATH DIVISION is the new heavy metal band out of Hollywood, California, and was founded by bass player Jerry Montano, whose past bands include Danzig, Nothingface, Down & Dirty and tour mates Hellyeah, drummer Tim Yeung who has played with Morbid Angel, Divine Heresy, Hate Eternal and Nile, and features Sean De La Tour on vocals and guitar, and Rick Di Marco on lead guitar. DEATH DIVISION‘s sound is heavy and intense with a natural sense of melody. Their new single, “I’ve Had Enough,” recently made its debut on Full Metal Jackie and is out now.
