HANK WILLIAMS JR. SONG “ANGELS ARE HARD TO FIND” FEATURED IN GEORGE CLOONEY & SANDRA BULLOCK MOVIE GRAVITY

Source: Webster PR

————————–

“There are a couple of parts in the movie where the grizzled man astronaut, played by the devastatingly charming George Clooney, is floating around listening to music in his suit. He’s listening to Hank Williams Jr.’s “Angels Are Hard To Find” which ostensibly is about a woman but can be applied to basically anything else. It was just a tiny part of a gigantic movie, but it was entirely moving. It was so peaceful and terrifying. I loved it.” – Shea Serrano, LA Weekly

HankWilliamsJr_AngelsAreHardToFind_600pxNASHVILLE, Tenn. (December 2, 2013) – Will Hank Williams Jr. be headed to the stage of the Academy Awards?? Having won three Emmy Awards for his composition of the ever-popular theme song to Monday Night Football for 21 years, Williams is garnering rave reviews for his musical contribution “Angels Are Hard To Find,” to the current Warner Bros. Picture Gravity.

“This song was on both my 1974 album Living Proof and the 1991 album Pure Hank.  It just proves good songs resurface at the appropriate time,” says Hank Williams Jr.  “I like both Sandra Bullock and George Clooney in their roles.  Then hearing my song in the movie, for me, already made it a winner.”

“Angels Are Hard To Find,” is included twice within the movie where Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney). But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone – tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into… More the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

HANK WILLIAMS JR. & MERLE HAGGARD TEAM UP ON CLASSIC TUNE

Country Music Icons release lyric video to support collaboration

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (November 26, 2013) – Five-time Entertainer of the Year Hank Williams Jr. and Country Music Hall of Fame member Merle Haggard spent some time in the studio recording the 1980 hit song “I Think I’ll Just Sit Here and Drink,” for Hank Williams Jr.’s latest studio album Old School New Rules.  You can watch the video here: http://youtu.be/hpD8aehKRtI

“Merle is one-of-a-kind,” says Hank Williams Jr.  “His music resonates with fans just like mine does.  Making this song was simple, it maybe took two takes.  Then we spent the rest of the time laughing and telling old road stories. Merle and I are for the everyday working man and that’s something we have in common.”

On December 31, 2013, Williams will perform at the fifth annual “Bash on Broadway” in downtown Nashville, Tennessee.  Prior to the show he will receive the 2013 Operation Troop Aid “Patriot Award” for his support of those serving in the military, their families, and his continued Patriotic stance.

About Hank Williams Jr.
Though he began his career in the shadow of his legendary father, Hank Williams Jr. emerged as a formidable Country singer-songwriter in his own right with 1960s hits such as “It’s All Over But The Crying” and “Cajun Baby.” But things changed with the 1979 release of “Family Tradition,” where he broke the Nashville mainstream by adopting a rebel image and writing/recording in a style incorporating his Blues and Southern Rock influences. The results were staggering as  42 Top-10 hits followed, two CMA Entertainer of the Year honors, three ACM Entertainer of the Year honors, multiple Grammy nominations and a Grammy award for “There’s a Tear in My Beer”, a duet with his father using electronic merging technology.

As groundbreaking as Hank Williams Jr. became, it wasn’t just his performance that people took note about, but rather his songwriting that became so notable. The driven musician penned hits songs year after year scoring 20 BMI Awards. One of the arguably most-heard Country song of modern times, the four-time Emmy award-winning “Are You Ready For Some Football?,” which was heard nationally as the theme song of ABC and ESPN’s Monday Night Footballtelecasts, was aired for 21 years.

As the accolades kept coming, Williams sold over 55 million albums, achieving gold, platinum, and multi-platinum status along with 13 of those albums hitting the no. 1 spot on the Billboard chart. In 2008, Williams was honored with the BMI Icon award at the 56th annual BMI Country Awards, joining an elite group of past honorees including Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and Dolly Parton.

Nashville, Tenn. (October 1, 2013) – Grammy award-winning country singer/songwriter Hank Williams Jr. will headline the fifth annual Music City New Year’s Eve ‘Bash on Broadway’ event in downtown Nashville, the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp (NCVC) announced today. A city that knows how to throw a good party, Music City will once again offer one of the biggest New Year’s Eve celebrations in the country with multiple days of free live music and Nashville’s own midnight “Music Note Drop®.”

“Football, football and Hank! All our rowdy friends are staying over this year,” said Butch Spyridon, president and CEO of the NCVC. “This may be the best end-of-year “mash-up” we have ever had with the Titans, the SEC and Hank ringing in the New Year. Are you ready?”

“This year is going to be very special on New Year’s Eve,” says Hank Williams Jr. “December 31st will mark the 60th anniversary of daddy’s death. For years, I have not performed on New Year’s Eve in honor of my father, but this year is a monumental year in the history of Hank Williams. If daddy would have lived, he would have been 90 years old this year. I hope Music City is ready to boogie woogie, because Bocephus is going bring the party to Nashville.”

Sponsors of this year’s New Year’s Eve ‘Bash on Broadway’ include Miller Lite, Coors Light, Jack Daniel’s, Advance Financial 24/7 and McDonald’s.

About Hank Williams Jr.
With more than 70 albums to his credit and 55 million albums sold, Williams has a fascinating career for a legend still in his prime. His discography chronicles a bold profile of growth from adored offspring of a legendary father, to titan of the modern country rock movement in his own right.    He has amassed 5 platinum albums, 20 gold albums, 13 chart-topping albums, and 10 number one singles.  Country classics like “A Country Boy Can Survive,” “Dixie on My Mind,” and “All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight,” are all part of his illustrious career.

Williams has received 16 BMI songwriting honors and even a Grammy Award for Best Country Vocal Collaboration in 1989. For two decades, America came to its collective feet each fall Monday night when this larger than life superman of a musician looked into the camera and unleashed the national anthem for viewers of Monday Night Football – ‘Are you ready for some football?’ Those simple words have won Williams an entirely new generation of fans and given him the distinction of being the first country performer to ever win an Emmy.

Williams has also been named Entertainer of the Year five times, and was the recipient of the prestigious 2009 Academy of Country Music “Pioneer Award.” In 2012, Williams launched Bocephus Records and immediately signed a licensing deal with Blaster Records, distributed by Warner Music Nashville. He has dominated social media with more than 1.4 million likes on Facebook and over 85,000 twitter followers.  Needless to say, his career is one for the history books. In his personal life, Williams is an avid sportsman, cigar aficionado, and Civil War enthusiast.

“This is a really good movie.”
– Former U.S. President Bill Clinton

LOS ANGELES, CA (June 4, 2013) – Ride off into the sunset with the most legendary country artist of all-time when THE LAST RIDE arrives on Blu-ray and DVD June 4 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.  Featuring an all-star cast  Thomas (E.T.), Jesse James (Jumper), Kaley Cuoco (“The Big Bang Theory”), Fred Dalton Thompson (“Law & Order”) and Stephen Tobolowsky (“Californication”), this powerful film retraces the final days of a true American icon.

Based on the controversial life story of singer-songwriter, Hank Williams, THE LAST RIDE tells the powerful tale of country music’s original bad boy.  The man, the myth and the music come together when Williams travels from Alabama to a series of New Year’s shows in West Virginia and Ohio.  This remarkable journey leads straight into the heart and soul of the legendary performer…as he takes one last shot at redemption.  Featuring all-new versions of Hank Williams’ greatest songs, this emotional tale of hope and truth is one you’ll never forget.

With 11 number one songs throughout his career, Williams’ music continues to touch people’s lives long after his passing 60 years ago.  Former President Bill Clinton has said of THE LAST RIDE that it “takes us back to rural America in the 1950s, tells the story simply, and uses the music deftly, both to intensify the drama and to remind us of the timeless genius of Hank Williams.”  Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee added “it’s a beautifully crafted and creative vehicle for telling the story of almost every gifted musician or actor who must reconcile the desire within to simply be a great artist and the demands of the public to be an accessible and accommodating celebrity.”
