Jay Jolley Makes Music City Debut At Mercy Lounge On Tuesday, November 12
Vocalist Brings Country Soul Sound & Full Band To The Billy Block Show
“This is one of the most powerful songs I have heard in a long time. Jay’s vocals carry the strong message with class and emotion that tears at the very core of your being.” – Pam Stadel, Digital Rodeo
|Nashville, TN (October 21, 2013) – – Country up-and-comer Jay Jolley makes his Music City debut on Tuesday, November 12 at 7:30 p.m. with a five-song, full-band set on The Billy Block Show at Mercy Lounge’s High Watt Room (One Cannery Row). The Show streams live online and is archived via USTREAM servers at www.billyblock.com. For more information, call (615) 251-3020.
Jolley is creating a stir with his current single, the high-impact Charlie Daniels/Doug Johnson/Kim Williams composition, “God Save Us All From Religion.” The track is moving up the national charts and the video, which premiered globally last month, is in rotation on ZUUS Country, Heartland (formerly TNN), CMT.com, CMT Mobile, GACTV.com and Zuus.com. The mood-infused clip, produced by Sean Babas (Monster Energy Drink, Chevrolet’s Camaro, Dallas Lovato, Big Sean), is also streaming on-demand on Clear Channel, Buzz Net and Yallwire/Blastro/Roxwell. Fans can watch it online by clicking HERE.
A pianist with a soulful touch and a singer with incredible range and passion, Jolley is a new name to local club-goers. However, he’s honed his stage chops and made a name for himself playing State Fairs and Festivals across the Midwest, and overseas at the National Rodeo Association (Mexico), Piccadilly Circus (UK) and on the beach in Masalia (France). Jay has opened shows (with his own band, as lead singer forThe Notorious Johnnys or as frontman and keyboardist for the band2XL) for top-tier acts The Black Crowes, Sass Jordan, Rick Springfield, Burton Cummings, John Alec Entwistle and UFO.
Jay knows that Nashville’s “rooms” are tougher than most, so he’s bringing along his own band of “name” entertainers and pickers. Most of the audience should recognize: Ron Pirrone / Electric Guitar(songwriter who has opened for Rick Springfield, Burton Cummings) and Roy Caldwell / Acoustic Guitar (singer/songwriter who has opened for Mick Fleetwood, BTO The Cult, Shooting Star, Kim Mitchell). Hot players include: John Howard / Bass Guitar (Faith Hill, Randy Owen, Randy Travis, Phil Vassar, Lee Greenwood, Dolly Parton, Tim McGraw) and Chuck Tilley / Drums (Dolly Parton, Lee Greenwood, Engelbert Humperdinck, Jewel, Al Jarreau, Delbert McClinton).
A native of Michigan, Jolley is currently based in Rochester. The singer/songwriter enjoyed chart success with his last single, the still radio-active “It’s a Friday Thing (A Little More Country).” Jay finds joy in fishing, “fixing things,” flip-flops, ice hockey, NASCAR and spending time around the fire pit with his family. A giving heart, he supports Michigan-based charities Grace Centers of Hope and Operation Injured Soldiers in honor of his late father who served in the U.S. Coast Guard.

ANDY GRIGGS’ LATEST PROJECT, NAKED, LANDS ON INITIAL GRAMMY BALLOT IN FOUR CATEGORIES
Album of the Year, Best Country Album, Song of the Year (“Me On His Mind”), and Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance
|Nashville, Tenn. (October 23, 2013) – Andy Griggs often says, “there is no defining a style of song. As long as there’s soul, it has a place in music.” Griggs took these words to heart when he set out to record and produce his latest album, NAKED, which is all acoustic…one singer/songwriter, one guitar, one track.
“I am honored that my music is being recognized by the members of the Grammy’s (National Recording Academy), and my peers. It is a very humbling experience,” says Andy Griggs.
Country Weekly says “most listeners latch onto a song because of a melody, a voice or a lyric. So Andy Griggs did something really clever. He stripped away the high-tech production on his new album, Naked, and presents the things you love—a melody, a voice and an amazing stack of songs.” Armed with just his guitar and accompanied by his earthy soul-filled vocals, Griggs penned original tunes for his new offering, as well as covered songs from artists that influenced him like Waylon’s “Old Timer” and Willie’s “Angel Flying Too Close To the Ground.” Country Weekly bestowed it with 4 stars, the highest rating Griggs has had on any album.
“Me On His Mind,” the song that has landed on the initial Grammy ballot for “Song of the Year” and for “Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance” has a very special meaning to Griggs. “What can I say? How could I end an acoustic album without my brother? I can’t. I was 18yrs old and I walked into the living room late one night to him singin’ a song that he had just written. He said, ”Check this out!” and started over. Luckily, he had a little tape recorder on the coffee table and pushed record. Now my brother wrote some incredible songs in his short life, but this one goes above and beyond. He died three weeks later. It took a long time for me to listen to that cassette tape that now sits tightly in my gun safe. When I play that song, I close my eyes, choke back a tear and smile and think about him singin’ that song to his little brother, not knowing how much it would relate to me later in life.”
NAKED is available digitally on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.
NAKED Track Listing
Griggs continued, “I’m addicted to pure and raw feelings that’s as still and quiet as the wind. Throwing your heart out whether it’s healthy or broken! Exposing a hurting soul! Bearing and giving it all with that ol’ piece of wood and 6 strings! It’s underwear on the couch, singing until daylight! It’s vulnerability to yourself! It’s vulnerability to your friends! It’s vulnerability to a crowd of strangers! In short, it’s all about bein’ NAKED!”

|NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (October 16, 2013) – Legendary music icon Kenny Rogers has just landed his 22nd Top 10 Country album with the Billboard debut of You Can’t Make Old Friends at #9 via Warner Bros. Records. The album reunites the multiple Grammy Award-winner with long-time friend and collaborator, Dolly Parton, for a brand new duet on the title track, “You Can’t Make Old Friends,” and accompanying music video. The bold 11-track recording, highlighted by Rogers’ fresh takes on a diverse array of musical styles including country, soul, folk, rock and even zydeco, is receiving widespread critical acclaim.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel observes “his voice is still an instrument to be reckoned with” and the Associated Press calls You Can’t Make Old Friends “an album that blends the familiar with the challenging, seeking new hits and pursuing new ideas even as he enters the Country Music Hall of Fame this fall.” In a glowing review, Country Weekly notes “you have to give Kenny a ton of credit for being willing to spread his wings in new directions—and even more for pulling it off.”
In celebration of the album release, Rogers did a blitz of media appearances that kicked off with an interview and performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on October 2nd. Rogers was also featured on Hallmark Channel’s Home & Family, Extra!, GAC’s Backstory, CBS This Morning, Fox & Friends, Bloomberg TV,Kathie Lee & Hoda on The Today Show, and The Rachael Ray Show.
Rogers can be heard performing several new songs from the album live on SiriusXM’s Artist Confidential airing on Prime Country this weekend. He can also be heard guest hosting the nationally syndicated radio program AfterMidnite all this week through Sunday, October 20th.
With a collaboration of producers, including Kyle Lehning, Warren Hartman, and Dann Huff, You Can’t Make Old Friends is Rogers’ first country album since the release of Water & Bridges in 2006. Rogers considers this release the most varied and complete album of his lifetime. “I can honestly say this may be the best album I’ve ever recorded,” said Rogers. “I’m thrilled with how it turned out. I wanted to really stretch my boundaries and do something a little different. There are songs on this record that I would normally sing, and then there are songs I would normally never even listen to. In this business, you do albums to both grow artistically, and for the sheer love of music. We chose what I think are the most diverse and best songs I’ve ever had access to.”
A trailblazing recording artist, vocalist, and entertainer, Rogers has sold more than 120 million records worldwide and recorded more than 65 albums during his illustrious 56 years in show business. Rogers has charted a record within each of the last seven decades and scored a hit single in the past six. He was the first country artist to consistently sell out arenas and quickly became a pop superstar as well – his 28 Billboard Adult Contemporary Top 10’s is fourth-best all time among men, trailing only Elton John, Neil Diamond, and Elvis Presley. Rogers has recorded 12 No. 1 albums and 24 No. 1 hits – “The Gambler,” “Lady,” “Lucille,” “Coward Of The County,” and “Islands in the Stream” (with Dolly Parton) among them. His Greatest Hits album has sold over 24 million copies worldwide to date. He is the RIAA’s 8th best-selling male artist of all time with one Diamond album, 19 Platinum albums and 31 Gold albums.
Rogers will be inducted into the Country Music Hall Of Fame later this month onSunday October 27th.
