COREY SMITH KICKS OFF MARCH MADNESS WITH A “PICK AND ROLL” FREE CONCERT AT BRIDGESTONE ARENA PLAZA ON MARCH 16

COREY SMITH KICKS OFF MARCH MADNESS WITH A “PICK AND ROLL” FREE CONCERT AT BRIDGESTONE ARENA PLAZA ON MARCH 16

Presented by Texas Pete®, Show Begins 30 Minutes Following SEC Men’s Basketball Second Semi-Final Game

CoreySmith_lrgNASHVILLE, TN (March 11, 2013) – Singer/songwriter Corey Smith will help kick off March Madness with a FREE performance at Bridgestone Arena Plaza on Saturday, March 16, 30 minutes following the SEC Men’s Basketball second semi-final game.  Since signing with APA Nashville last year, Smith has sold out nightclubs and amphitheaters across the nation, building a grassroots following of hundreds of thousands of fans, 1.2 million single sales, and over $9 million dollars in revenue.  Following the game, Smith will take the stage for his own version of a “Pick and Roll,” presented by Texas Pete® Hot Sauce.  The all-ages show is not the first time Smith has appeared along with the SEC, as fans might remember portions of his performance at the famous Blue Note club in Columbia, Missouri, televised by ESPN during the Mizzou/Georgia football game last year.

Smith graduated from the University of Georgia, married his high school sweetheart, and settled into life as a high school teacher, just a few blocks away from where he was raised.  Music was a therapeutic refuge, and he dabbled in songwriting and performing in clubs across the southeast.  A natural writer with well-crafted lyrics drawn heavily from blues, country and rock traditions, Smith released his music independently and eventually found mass appeal through simple word-of mouth. After six successful albums, Smith released his latest LIVE IN CHATTANOOGA in 2012.

For more information on Corey Smith, please visit coreysmith.com.

Live in Chattanooga is a solid and decidedly energetic representation of who Corey is as a performer and songwriter, an artist who may reside on the fringes of country music, but one who has earned the kind of rural cred that others can only dream of…”

MARIA SARAH To Make TODAY Show Debut March 15th

MARIA SARAH To Make TODAY Show Debut March 15th

14 year old singer/songwriter selected for TODAY’s Stars of Tomorrow performance

MariaSarah_EP_cvr_lrgNashville, TN (March 11, 2013) – Maria Sarah, 14 year-old singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, will perform on the TODAY Show this coming Friday, March 15th.

Maria began performing as a singer and training in classical piano at four years old. By seven she was teaching herself guitar and soon incorporated mandolin into her repertoire. She has won countless talent contests and played for literally hundreds of festival, charity events and popular venues throughout her home state of Indiana and Tennessee.

After attending a writer’s conference at NSAI (Nashville Songwriters Association International), eleven-year-old, Maria wrote “Sometimes”, an inspirational song reviving hope that in time the answers will come. The piece was so compelling her parents knew it was time to enlist the aid of those who could help make Maria’s vision a reality.

Maria Sarah enrolled in an intense customized program at PCG Nashville, The Science of Artist Development where she continues to excelling in her development under the direction of music industry veteran, Bernard Porter.

“Maria Sarah is the essence of everything we look for in an artist. She enters the room and you know you’re in the presence of greatness. Her dedication to excellence is unwavering. It is truly an honor to have such an extraordinarily talented artist on our roster. It is time for the world to experience Maria Sarah,” states Bernard Porter, President and Founder of PCG Nashville.

A singer/songwriter bursting with promise, Maria is a gleaming example of everything that is right with the world. At fourteen years old she possesses a wisdom that isn’t limited by her short time on this earth. Thankfully, for those who have the privilege to experience it she has chosen to bare her soul through her music.

She writes with incomprehensible depth and poetry. Her voice pours from her beautiful, petite frame an unexpected surprise both powerful and gentle. She plays her instruments with well-honed skill from years of dedicated practice.

Maria Sarah is also scheduled to perform the National Anthem at the upcomingRoad to the Horse event March 17 in Lexington, KY.

She recently released a self-titled pop album of her original songs available on iTunes as well as a world premiere video of her song “Sometimes” that can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSs0j7L9pBg.

CreativelyMusical.com Artist of the Week March 10, 2013: Bret Michaels

Artist of the Week: Bret Michaels

Birth Date: March 15, 1963
Genre: Rock, Pop, Country, Americana

In my day job, I work for Bret Michaels, so this artist of the week feature will be a little bit different.

Over the years I have had an insider’s view of the artist Bret Michaels. There are many facets to Bret Michaels, but the songs he’s written during the time I have worked for him and being a part of the process of releasing some of those songs has been pretty amazing.

My favorite songs are probably different than most people’s favorites. That holds true for almost every artist I listen to. When you work for an artist you get to hear songs that don’t make it to the album or are just for special projects. I will admit that I have a few favorites I can’t share, but I will share my favorites of the released tracks.

If you have never seen Bret Michaels live, you should. I say that not from an employee standpoint, but from a music fan standpoint. He has so much fun on stage and it shows. He wins new fans with his down-to-earth, party-like-a-rock-star way about him. He enjoys what he does and does his best to make sure that everyone enjoys themselves at his shows.

My song choices for this Artist of the Week lean towards the country star in Bret, with a few fun rock songs, too. I am a big country music fan, but it’s not so much that some of  these songs are country that makes me like them, but the story within each song that I love. Bret writes music that he wants to write. While he’s been classified in one genre or another, he just writes what he writes and it comes out the way it comes out. He listens to and enjoys all kinds of music, and has his whole life, so it is expected that he write all kinds of music.

The music selections below are for the tracks I can share with you, with their Rhapsody links.  Someday I hope to be able to share with you some of the other tracks that he hasn’t released, there are a few good ones in there.
