Darling Parade Releases First Single from Highly-Anticipated, Debut Full-Length Album Battle Scars & Broken Hearts
Darling Parade Releases First Single from Highly-Anticipated, Debut Full-Length Album Battle Scars & Broken Hearts
“Ghost” Now Available on iTunes Album Launches April 2, 2013

Formed in early 2007 against the humble backdrop of fields and farmhouses, Darling Parade came to fruition after lead vocalist Kristin Kearns asked Nate McCoy and his previous group to play a local show in southern Illinois. She was only 15 at the time, but even then, had a way of captivating an audience. After adding drummer Casey Conrad via Craigslist and bassist Dustin McCoy, the group was complete.
After a self-titled EP, and 2010’s What You Want, 2011 brought the release of the band’s 3rd EP, Until We Say It’s Over, and landed the band the #8 spot onBillboard’s Next Big Sound chart. The first single “Never Wrong” received airplay on both MTVu and VH1. It also included, “Remember,” featuring guest vocals by Anberlin frontman, Stephen Christian.
Riding on the success of Until We Say It’s Over in the spring of 2012, Darling Parade landed their first national tour with NBC’s “The Voice” winner Cassadee Pope (Hey Monday) and set out to make their mark across the country. The band quickly followed up with a national headlining tour, and then headed home to regroup.
Shortly after returning home, they knew it was time to do something they had not yet attempted—record a full-length album. Lacking the funds to embark on such an endeavor, the fans stepped up in a huge way, fully backing a Kickstarter effort to raise $16,000 to fund the recording of the new album.
Darling Parade went through several life-changing situations throughout the course of a few years, as bands do from time to time. The group, along with their long-time producer and friend, Jon King (Augustana, Throwing Gravity, 3 Pill Morning), retreated to a remote cabin in Western Ky., to clear their minds and make sense of the chaos. Out of that adversity, Battle Scars & Broken Hearts was born. Written entirely over a period of only a few weeks, it represents a snapshot in time of the band coming to terms with some of their weakest moments and finding the will to rise above them.
“The whole album has a common theme of overcoming struggle,” says Kearns.
“It’s really about realizing that no one has control over your life but you, and moving past negativity.”
The next four months were spent working day in and day out in the studio. “We really took a different approach with this album, we took the time to explore every tone, and took a lot of chances” says McCoy.
The band made huge strides forward musically as well, melding all of their influences to create a sound that’s infectious, refreshing and all their own. In-your-face guitars and relentless drumming dominate the album, while Kristin’s thunder in a bottle voice can only be described as a beautifully controlled chaos.
Partnering with King’s Nashville based label, Page 2 Music, Battle Scars & Broken Hearts will be released world-wide April 2, 2013.

“GOD BLESS THE USA” CELEBRATES 30TH ANNIVERSARY & ITS ENDURING MARK ON AMERICAN CULTURE
“GOD BLESS THE USA” CELEBRATES 30TH ANNIVERSARY & ITS ENDURING MARK ON AMERICAN CULTURE
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (January 23, 2013) – From times of great national tragedy to times of joyous patriotic celebration, the words of “God Bless the USA” have stood as one of our country’s most beloved anthems and the cornerstone song of those that best encompass pride in America. So much so, that CBS.com called the song, “the most recognizable patriotic song in the country.”
Written by Grammy Award winning country star Lee Greenwood in 1983, the iconic song marks its 30th anniversary this year. Its life to date includes the distinction of being the only song of any genre to skyrocket up the sales charts multiple times since its original release in 1984. Radio stations and fans alike returned to the song in 1991 during the Gulf War, in 2001 following 9/11, in 2003 during the war in Iraq, and in 2009 following Hurricane Katrina.
“God Bless the USA” had a resurgence in 2011, when Beyoncé recorded the song offering proceeds of the download to benefit the New York Police & Fire Widows’ & Children’s Benefit Fund. That same year, it was the winning song on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” and performed on “American Idol.”
Greenwood wrote “God Bless the USA” in response to the hurt and anger he felt following the downing of a Korean jet on a flight from New York to Seoul with 269 passengers aboard, including 63 Americans. Russian authorities shot the plane from the sky, killing all aboard because “they thought the airliner was on a spy mission.”
“I saw the senseless strike as a personal attack against our countrymen and it moved me to put pen to paper,” says Greenwood. “The song came so easily, it nearly wrote itself.”
The song hit an emotional chord with the American populace as well and “God Bless the USA” was named “Song of the Year” in 1985 at the CMA Awards.
“After 9/11, it was a song of unity and rebuilding and after Hurricane Katrina, it was a song for life and hope. It just makes me really proud that I’ve done something for the country and for my family. It’s my family’s heritage,” Greenwood told AOL’s The Boot.
Announced Tour Dates Include:

March 2, 2013 – Rocky Mount, NC

Her years of stage experience show; she’s a natural performer who over the last few years has opened shows for Dierks Bentley, Leann Rimes, Eric Church, Ronnie Dunn, Lee Brice and Thompson Square. Lisa’s peerless vocals and unique perspective create music that incorporates traditional Country values backed by rockin’ contemporary productions that she calls “Long Island Country.” Matassa’s previous two Country albums generated hit singles (“Me Time,” “Wouldn’t You Like To Know”), and her “Me Time” video soared to # 1 on CMT.com. Her newest EP, SOMEBODY’S BABY, is receiving rave reviews, and the disc’s title track (and current single) is now moving up the Billboard/BDS Indicator Chart.
“Lisa has a vivacious spirit that comes across on her new EP. Whether it be the up tempo sheen of the title cut or the warmth exuded on ballads like her cover of ‘Heaven’ and the stirring ‘Learning As You Grow.’ She is a star on the rise.” – Chuck Dauphin, Billboard.com
“Lisa has a sexy, gritty approach to the material that infuses it with an energy that is infectious. When she sings, she has complete command of the song.” – Greg Victor, ParcBench.com
“Lisa Matassa has a voice that can croon a classic or belt out a rock and roll anthem. She’s like a female Garth Brooks, part Country star and part rock’ n’ roll queen. SOMEBODY’S BABY has it all: Bombast, sweetness, grit and heart.” – Wildy Haskell, Wildy’s World

BETTY WHITE TO RECEIVE SPECIAL HONOR ON 91ST BIRTHDAY

Fans of Betty White can send in special video birthday greetings to the star via The WannaBeatles Facebook page and be entered to win a personalized autographed photo of Betty White plus dinner at The WannaBeatles’ show at Puckett’s Grocery in Franklin on Friday, January 18. There is a $12.00 cover charge for the 8:30 pm show. Dinner Reservations can be made here or by calling (615) 794-5527.
The Nashville band’s new song and video, “Oh Betty! (The Betty White Song),” honors the ever-popular, 90-year-old actress (who beat them out for a GRAMMY in the “Best Spoken Word Album” category in 2012; The WannaBeatles’ Fab Fan Memories — The Beatles Bond was also nominated in the category). The video, which features The WannaBeatles as a ’60s-styled singing quartet and Evelyn Ford as a Betty White imposter, is available for viewing on YouTube. The song is available on iTunes.
The WannaBeatles worked hard to craft a tune that exudes the true spirit of what Betty White is all about. The toe-tapping, hook-driven number is reminiscent of clever, sing-along hits from the 1950s and ’60s. The star said she was “very flattered” after listening to the song.
The video was taped at the historic Palace Theater in Gallatin, Tenn. The “Oh Betty!” team included The WannaBeatles, director Vince Pinkerton, videographer Tom Terry, stage manager Larry Gregory, choreographer Brooke Bryant, and production assistant Lucy Hart. Evelyn Ford portrayed “Betty”, while Brooke Bryant and Susannah Smith White served as silver-haired Betty White dancers. Costumes and props were provided by Halloween Inc., Kim & Kit Vintage, and Get it Guru. Chuck Whiting served as project publicist, and meals were catered by The Pizza Machine.
“The Beatles are well known for putting their anecdotes into songs,” said WannaBeatles keyboardist Nathan Burbank. “We are following the sample of our mentors by telling our tale in the best way we know how. The Betty White video could be the beginning of a reality-based WannaBeatles TV show.”
ABOUT THE WANNABEATLES:
The WannaBeatles is a high energy group of four professional musicians with a passion for the songs of John, Paul, George, and Ringo – the Beatles. These are the songs we all grew up listening to. Kids today have rediscovered the music of the Beatles which proves that great music will stand the test of time. The WannaBeatles consists of Grammy award winning and talented music producers, arrangers, studio players, and singers who have “Come Together” to play the music they grew up with. Ever since their first all Beatles gig together, it was love at the first note! Since then, the WannaBeatles have developed a following of regulars who look forward to the band’s own special version of the British Invasion.
The WannaBeatles (Bryan Cumming, Nathan Burbank, Dennis Scott and David Toledo) received their first Grammy nomination in December 2011 as the producers of “Fab Fan Memories – The Beatles Bond“, a CD featuring songs, stories, recollections and fond thoughts about The Beatles from celebrities and everyday fans. The project was nominated in the “Best Spoken Word Album” category. The other nominees included Tina Fey, Betty White, and Val Kilmer. The audio book features narration by George Harrison’s older sister, Louise Harrison, with performances by The Liverpool Legends of Branson, Mo., and The WannaBeatles in Music City.
